EM 05: Continuing to explore our emotions (EM05)


Description
Week 05 - EM00 to EM12 are all part of the 12-week Self-Mastery course.
Before you start this course you must have completed our free mandatory introduction 00 EM.
While you can view any week as stand-alone, the course is designed to build on foundations. We recommend that the most significant benefit is moving progressively through the weeks, building your skills one week at a time

We continue to explore our emotions. This week our goal is to provide learners with a greater understanding of their own emotional responses. With this understanding, learners are more easily able to self-regulate. This week's content covers:

* Understanding the cognitive model
* Understanding core beliefs and conditional assumptions
* Checking the facts
* Cognitive Distortions

We introduce these very BIG topics here from DBT (i.e. emotion regulation) and CBT (I.e. identifying and analyzing thinking). We will have an opportunity to revisit and explore the practicality of using these skills in more depth in later sessions too.

Our goal is to help us all explore and understand why we act the way we do instinctively, without conscious awareness, with potentially devastating consequences.
